Loudoun County, Virginia is quickly becoming a hotspot for 55+ Communities. Our moderate climate, low crime rate, scenic countryside and proximity to Washington, DC make Loudoun a potentially ideal place to spend your “Golden Years”.
What is a 55+ Community?
In many cases, this isn’t your traditional notion of a “Retirement Community”. Although most of these neighborhoods require that at least one member of the family is at least 55 years of age, these are communities designed for recreation and socializing. Common amenities include:
- Golf courses
- Tennis & Pickleball Courts
- Swimming Pools
- Walking Trails
- Social Spaces such as game rooms, card rooms, craft rooms and hobby areas
- Personal Services like a salon/barber, shops and spas
- On-Site Dining including a variety of restaurants & cafes
- Community Events such as parties, outings and educational programs
- Fitness Centers, frequently offering classes tailored to the needs of older adults
- Clubhouse, providing a central hub of community activities as well as meeting rooms, lounges, libraries and multipurpose spaces
- Gated Security
Many communities offer traditional single family homes as well as townhomes and condominiums.
Choosing the 55+ Active Adult Lifestyle
The lifestyle has a lot to offer. How about a daily foursome for golf? Walk to the spa for a massage? Perhaps a yoga lesson in the afternoon and dinner at an on site luxury restaurant in the evening? Wouldn’t it be great to get back into competitive tennis? This is everything you worked for your whole life, while you’re still young enough and healthy enough to truly enjoy it.
But making the transition can be a big project. You may have a home to sell. Downsizing may mean you have to find new homes for a lot of stuff you’ve accumulated over the years. And choosing the community with a culture that’s the right fit can require a lot of research. That’s where my experience and expertise come to play. I can help you with every aspect of this transition and I truly love helping folks realize their retirement dreams.
